LESSON #20

WOMEN HAVE ALWAYS BEEN EQUAL IN THE EYES OF HEAVENLY FATHER

OMISSION IS WORSE THAN COMMISSION

Most of the 2,500 Nephites who met the Resurrected Jesus Christ were former Lamanites.  Around 13 AD all baptized Lamanites’ skin turned “white” because Jesus Christ was finally 13 years old and doing His Father’s Work over in Jerusalem. (His focus was his Heavenly mission rather than his earthly “family” or traditions; He was not of this earth!) (3 Nephi 2:14-16):

14 And it came to pass that those Lamanites who had united with the Nephites were numbered among the Nephites;  15 And their curse was taken from them, and their skin became white like unto the Nephites;  16 And their young men and their daughters became exceedingly fair, and they were numbered among the Nephites, and were called Nephites. And thus ended the thirteenth year.

Lamanites honored monogamy for 1,000 years.  Modern day Celestial Polygamy has been the downfall of the LDS members since the days of Brigham Young.  Why?  The Prophet Mormon honored very few Nephite women in his abridged 1,000 year history of the Nephites/Mulekites.  During the Millennium, women are to be honored equal to men. Angel Moroni told Steve Davis during his Near Death Experience that Moroni was married to a woman he was not compatible with and the relationship was unevenly yoked. This was during the time of Lucifer’s reign with marriages of good and evil companions.  Mormon especially honored the Lamanites because they loved and honored their wives and only had one, Jacob 3:5-8, around 475 BC:

5 Behold, the Lamanites your brethren, whom ye hate because of their filthiness and the cursing which hath come upon their skins, are more righteous than you; for they have not forgotten the commandment of the Lord, which was given unto our father—that they should have save it were one wife, and concubines they should have none, and there should not be whoredoms committed among them.  6 And now, this commandment they observe to keep; wherefore, because of this observance, in keeping this commandment, the Lord God will not destroy them, but will be merciful unto them; and one day they shall become a blessed people.  7 Behold, their husbands love their wives, and their wives love their husbands; and their husbands and their wives love their children; and their unbelief and their hatred towards you is because of the iniquity of their fathers; wherefore, how much better are you than they, in the sight of your great Creator?  8 O my brethren, I fear that unless ye shall repent of your sins that their skins will be whiter than yours, when ye shall be brought with them before the throne of God.

One must never give up and always be an action person, always searching for truth and understanding why free agency is the greatest blessing for anyone to receive; with the ability to make good and evil decisions each day!  People should never be passive when it comes to honoring Jesus and His Gospel.  Single LDS Women over thirty are the most blessed and most cursed women because of the Law of Omission!  Many want to always save their children.  Most are divorcees and most have already struggled in the current “man’s world”, plus dealing with child rearing in a home where there was no compatibility and husband and wife not going in the same direction.  Most LDS couples are trained from youth to stay within a comfortable framework of a segregated “woman’s club” (Relief Society, Young Women) and a “man’s club” (Priesthood, Young Men, Boy Scouts) and the best friends are usually the same sex!  The Lord treats every human being with equality.  The best example was the appearance of the Lord to Mary Magdalene (His ONLY “Beloved Apostle” whom “He loved more than anyone else”~Book of Phillip) after His death and burial.

There were two women in the New Testament who were very visible in the Life of Jesus Christ; namely, the Virgin Mary and Mary Magdalene.  Why did Jesus honor Mary Magdalene?

John 20:17 Jesus said, “Do not touch me, for I have not yet returned to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am returning to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’  The original phrase, Μ? μου ?πτου (mê mou haptou), in the Gospel of John, which was written in Greek, is better represented in translation as "cease holding on to me" or "stop clinging to me".  She had to let Him go for Him to fulfill His mission at that time. The biblical scene of Mary Magdalene's recognizing Jesus Christ after His Resurrection became the subject of a long, widespread and continuous iconographic tradition in Christian art from late antiquity to the present.

Luke chapter 8, tells us that Mary was one of Jesus' followers and travelled with him.  Mary Magdalene was one of Jesus' close “companions” (which during that time, meant “wife”).  Jesus also cared especially for her by, for instance in one occasion, driving out 7 demons from her Luke 8:2. This has better and more correctly been interpreted as meaning that she overcame the (seven) temptations of this life, just as Jesus did, due to Jesus’ teachings and love.

Her importance was shown by her presence in major events of Jesus' life. She anointed his feet with a costly perfume, an act the disciples tried to stop but which Jesus allowed, making him live up to the title of the Messiah, the "Annointed One." She also proclaimed Jesus as the Messiah to the church leaders as Jesus asked her to do. This had to happen as the scriptures state that Jesus could not proclaim Himself!

Jesus kissed Mary Magdalene according to early Christians' authentic Manuscripts!  “…And the companion of the [...] Mary Magdalene. [...] loved her more than all the disciples, and used to kiss her often on her [...]. The rest of the disciples [...]. They said to him "Why do you love her more than all of us?" The Savior answered and said to them, "Why do I not love you like her? When a blind man and one who sees are both together in darkness, they are no different from one another. When the light comes, then he who sees will see the light, and he who is blind will remain in darkness."   Interest in Mary Magdalene grew following the discovery of the Nag Hammadi Gnostic Gospels in 1945. The Gospel of Philip explicitly said Jesus kissed Mary Magdalene on the mouth, making the disciples jealous of her. Other gospels in the Nag Hammadi texts also spoke of the intimate relationship between her and Jesus, even referring to her as his "beloved." Jesus Christ loved Mary Magdalene and knew her purity spiritually.

First of all, it is important to know that the reason many of the early Christians' authentic and widely accepted canons and manuscripts were not included in Constantine's "canon" was mostly due to political bias, suppression of women, and to hide the love relationship of Jesus and the Magdalene (“Tower of the Flock”; an honorary title and she was of Bethany and sister to Lazarus and Martha; pious and never an apostle as Mary was) whom Jesus called to lead the Apostles after His Resurrection as the “Apostles to the Apostles”. She was visionary, pure-hearted, loved God 100%, and was a valiant leader and teacher of the Gospel of Christ.  The early Christians' manuscripts that were banned by Constantine were widely accepted for centuries before him by many Christians.  Certainly, the Gospel of Philip which talks about Jesus and Mary Magdalene was one of the greatest, widely accepted, and followed in the honoring of Mary Magdalene.  This teaching allows all spiritually-guided women to be equal to men to teach the Gospel.  Women held (and today hold) the same full “power” of the priesthood upon baptism with NO elitism or segregation per Jesus’ pure teachings.

Another great leader loved by God and female teacher of truth was Ann Eliza Young:  Champion for women's rights in the 19th Century. Ann Eliza Young valiantly exposed the spiritual, emotional, and physical bondage of polygamy and masonry. She had to give up everything to fight for truth; her family, friends, reputation, and financial support.

Please read the wiki page on her as given below and her book:  Young, Ann Eliza (1876), Wife No. 19, or the story of a life in bondage. Her treatment by the prideful LDS members was heartless and cruel, yet she held to the truth and stated that no one can judge the purity and goodness of the church in its early years with how it became due to the evil choices that crept into the church.

Ann Eliza Young (née Webb) (1844 – date unknown) was one of Brigham Young's fifty-five wives and later a critic of polygamy and an American Mormon dissident.[1] She spoke out against the suppression of women and was an advocate for women's rights during the Nineteenth Century.[2]

Webb married Brigham Young, the second president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), when he was 67 years old and she was a 24-year-old divorcée with two children.[3] Although she later called herself Young's "wife no. 19", and others have referred to her as his "27th wife", she was in fact the 52nd woman to marry Young.[4] She filed for divorce from Young in January 1873, an act which attracted much attention. Her bill for divorce alleged neglect, cruel treatment, and desertion, and claimed that her husband had property worth $8,000,000 and an income exceeding $40,000 a month. (Young countered that he owned less than $600,000 in property and that his income was less than $6000 per month.)[5] She was excommunicated from the LDS Church on 10 October 1874.[4] The divorce was granted in January 1875 and Brigham Young was ordered to pay a $500 per month allowance and $3000 in court fees.[4] When Young initially refused, he was found in contempt of court and sentenced to a day in prison and a $25 fine.[4] The alimony award was later set aside on the grounds that a polygamous marriage was legally invalid.[4]

Evidently, other polygamous wives were not happy either. This was reported by Apostle J. M. Grant on September 21, 1856 in a church sermon. He called for personal blood atonement and rebuked wives for complaining about polygamy. “I would ask how many covenant breakers there are in this city and in this kingdom. I believe that there are a great many and if they are covenant breakers we need a place designated, where we can shed their blood... And we have women here who like anything but the celestial law of God; and if they could break asunder the cable of the Church of Christ, there is scarcely a mother in Israel but would do it this day. And they talk it to their husbands, to their daughters, and to their neighbors, and say they have not seen a week's happiness since they became acquainted with that law [plural marriage], or since their husbands took a second wife. ...Journal of Discourses, vol.4, pp.49-51).[6]

Historically six of Brigham Young’s fifty-five wives were still married to other living husbands, while six other wives were separated or divorced from their husbands. Twenty-one wives had never been married and sixteen were widows. No marital information is available for six other wives. Ten of these wives divorced Brigham Young. For historical preservation and clarification regarding the wives' ages and that the majority (62%) of Brigham's wives were young; their ages at the time of marriage have been broken down: Thirty four ranged from the ages of sixteen (three of them) to twenty-nine, nine ranged from the ages of thirty to forty-four, five from the ages of forty-eight to fifty-nine, and seven wives ranged from the ages of sixty-two to seventy.[7]

Why did Ann Eliza Young write in 1876 a witnessed account of her life as a polygamous wife? She testified that she had “a desire to impress upon the world what Mormonism really is; to show the pitiable condition of its women, held in a system of bondage that is more cruel than African slavery ever was, since it claims to hold body and soul alike…” She also stated “I intend to give a truthful picture of Mormon life…”. A very important point that Young asserts is that the Mormon Church in the beginning, had a beautiful simplicity built upon good principles and the people felt the Spirit of God in their lives. They were happy and enthusiastic. This was before polygamy and Masonry were introduced.[8]

Award-winning LDS historian, D. Michael Quinn presents evidence to confirm the writings of Ann Eliza Young with a historical account that Joseph Smith repented of polygamy and masonry:

D. Michael Quinn’s historical research into the early years of the church found that Joseph Smith repented of polygamy weeks prior to his assassination by burning the original polygamy manuscript with his first wife Emma and telling the Quorum to burn their Masonic temple garments and to stop practicing polygamy. June 10, 1844: “Hyrum (Joseph’s brother) tells Nauvoo City Council that the 1843 revelation pertains to ancient polygamy, not to modern times…” June 20, 1844: Smith writes the apostles to return to Nauvoo immediately and probably on this occasion, instructs them to destroy their endowment undergarments.” June 23, 1844: “…Joseph and Emma Smith burn the original manuscript of the 1843 polygamy revelation, presumably on this evening…” (Quinn, pg 645 ¶ 6, ¶ 12, pg 646 ¶ 1).

Ann Eliza Young subsequently traveled the United States and spoke out against polygamy, Mormonism, and Brigham Young himself.[9] She testified before the U.S. Congress in 1875; these remarks were credited with contributing to the passage of the Poland Act which reorganized the judicial system of Utah Territory and made it easier for the federal government to prosecute polygamists.[10] In 1876, she published a popular autobiography entitled Wife No. 19.

After her divorce from Young, she married non-Mormon Moses R. Deming.[4] She became estranged from her family, including her children (a grandson told biographer Irving Wallace that neither of her sons had contact with her after they reached early adulthood), and faded into obscurity. An "apostate" from the Mormon church is often separated from family due to threats to church membership for the remaining members. A 1907 article on the 30th anniversary of Young's death updated the public on his then surviving widows and stated that Ann Eliza was divorced again and living in Lansing, Michigan. In 1908, she published a revised version of Wife No. 19 entitled Life in Mormon Bondage. The book received little notice (citation needed), and after its publication, she disappeared from the public eye and the historical record. Neither the date nor the location of her death or her burial place are known.

Her witnessed account was the basis of Irving Wallace's 1962 biography, The Twenty-Seventh Wife, and of David Ebershoff's novel, The 19th Wife, which was published by Random House in August 2008.

Why a Kiss is Definitely More than a Kiss

01 November 2009

When the mood strikes, a kiss can catch us in a mix of tastes, textures, mysteries—and scents.  We kiss nervously, flirtingly, angrily, or excitedly.  And a kiss is not just all about sex: Hollywood celebs throw us air kisses, mobsters impart the kiss of death, and an astronaut kisses the soil after a safe return home.  So why, then, are we so taken with the kiss?

http://www.smarterlifestyles.com/2009/11/01/why-a-kiss-is-definitely-more-than-a-kiss/

Scientists agree our lips evolved first for eating—and then later for speech.  Yet, with a kiss, a different kind of ‘hunger’ applies.  Kisses set off a whirlwind of neuro-chemical messages yielding anything from sensations of touch to sexual arousal; feelings of closeness to even a wave of euphoria.

However, kissing is not a solo affair, and kissing transmits external messages as well.  The bringing together of two bodies sets off messages just as powerful with your partner (whether they are precisely the same feelings is another matter altogether).  Kisses pack quite a punch: even one can transmit much information about the potential of a relationship.  Research proves that kisses are so powerful that a ‘first kiss’ gone badly can derail even the most promising of relationships.

Scientists believe that lip-locking evolved as a means to promote mate-selection.  Kisses transmit olfactory, tactile and postural types of information tapping into both the conscious and unconscious mind that drives decisions, including a genetically-compatible mate!  Some researchers believe that a kiss can even disclose the extent to which a partner might commit to raising children—central to our specie’s survival.

Nearly 50 years ago, British zoologist and author Desmond Morris posited that kissing probably evolved from primates: mothers chew food for their young, and then feed them mouth-to-mouth.  And since chimps still feed this way, early man probably did so, as well.

This press of outturned lips against lips may have later progressed as a way to comfort children in times of hunger—and eventually becoming a general expression of affection.  (Leave it to us humans to take these first parental kisses down the myriad of paths we have today!)

It is believed that unseen chemical messengers named pheromones helped along the evolution of the intimate kiss.  Both animals and plants use pheromones to communicate: insects, for example, emit pheromones to signal alarms, point out a food trail or announce sexual attraction.

In 1995, a Swiss researcher showed why pheromones are so important in humans, too.  He had women sniff t-shirts worn by men, and asked which smelled best.  The results were startling: the women did not choose randomly, which was discovered by comparing the DNA of the women and men.  Instead, women overwhelmingly picked the scent of man whose histocompatibility complex (MHC)—the genes that forge our immune systems—differed from their own.  (Different MHC’s mean less immune overlap, and the increased likelihood of healthy, disease-resistant kids.)  Thus, kissing may be a woman’s way of assessing a potential mate’s immune compatibility—without investing an excessive amount of time, energy in (and not to mention sexual activity with) a man.

However, these scientists aren’t telling the average person anything new: when it comes time to close your eyes and lean in, we all know that a kiss is never just a kiss.
